Chapter I.
take me home.
MDMDD. 'My dear, my dearest dust' is a poetic invitation to break the taboo surrounding death. This funeral ritual carried by three dancers traces a score of more than 1900 steps inspired by the rhythm of the moon and embodies the power of various burial rituals and folk dances. The stirring experience of MDMDD offers the public access to a space of exchange and reflection concerning the inevitability of death, and the silence of mourning.

‘A woman is dying. Guided by the moon and shadowed by death, she is cradled to her end through a cosmic and mesmerizing dance ritual. In the middle of a salt circle, under a salt shower, the woman is drawn into an intense and rhythmical journey where life slips slowly out of her hands. This funeral awakens the fear of the unknown and the mysteries of the afterlife.’

The Chapter One was created in 2018 and is still available for performing/touring.

‘My dear my dearest’ dust is coupled with the art installation ‘Towards the moon’, created and guided by Michel Vaerewijck. This installation confronts and highlights the human longing quest for immortality and the need of eternal trace.
The audience is invited to send a confession into the universe. The written message is translated into electro-magnetic energy through morse code, whereby it will travel towards the moon and gravitate in space for eternity.
The message leaves earth, the radiogram travels at approx. 299792458 meters per second. The energy wave will ripple through the universe like waves in a pool. The words will pass the moon after approx. 1 second and mars after 12,6 minutes. It will leave the solar system after 5.5 hours, pass the Big Bear constellation in 31 years and leave the Milky Way after 100000 years, to go on infinitely. Even after the disappearance of humanity.
